Summer is finally here! Life in the Pacific Northwest sure has been cold for this southern girl! Heck, even in the summer, here on the island, it usually only gets up to 65..maaaybe 70 in the summer time. I’m used to temperatures in the low 90-100s with 90% humidity!
Summer is my all-time favorite season (other than football season, lol!) The warm weather, yummy foods, sweet smells, sun tans, and oh the clothes.. the clothes are so much prettier than winter clothes! I would have to say my favorite things about summer are cookouts, bbqs (with southern pork bbq), beach trips, black berry picking and the sweet smell of honey suckles.
I love honey suckles so much that I even have a best friend tattoo of a honey suckle on my ankle. We grew up in the country and one of our most favorite things to do on summer days were to pick honeysuckles while walking through the horse pasture on our way to the creek for a swim.
Other summer loves I have include homemade ice cream, nights out watching the stars, listening to katydids sing through the night. We don’t have those (katydids) here in the northwest and that is one thing I have found, that I miss terribly while outside on the porch on these summer nights.

Lying on our backs and counting the stars
