These first tattoos were super special to me, they are an exact copy of my daughter’s first and middle name and also of her tiny foot prints. We lost her as a stillborn and these foot prints are one of the only physical items we have to remember her by. The tattoo artist was extremely careful to make a stamp copy with her exact prints and then stenciled out a beautiful font for her first and last name. I chose to have both of her foot prints drawn up and placed on my feet, they are placed so that they look as if she is always walking along with her mommy….
I have only had the chance to get one more tattoo since and this tattoo is also special to me, I don’t really care for nor do I see a point in getting something permanent placed on a body if it has not meaning or will not be special to me in years to come.
My third tattoo is a tattoo that I got along with my closest, best friend Tiff. This tat is a honey suckle flower. We talked for what seemed like forever about the idea of a “best” friend type tattoo but both wanted something that would be special to each of us and that would remind us of the many years that we have shared together growing up together as cousins, and also as best friends. We chose a honey suckle flower after a very long search.. this fsweet , fragrant, southern flower has always been a part of our summer memories and childhood experiences. The tattoos are on our ankles, each on an opposite side, so that if we stand together, both of our flowers will show!
