You’ll want to keep several things in mind, such as birth environment, choice of provider, birth planning, prenatal care, your support team, comfort techniques for a stress free birthing experience. Head on over to the Columbia SC City Moms Blog to read the entire blog post. The dreaded morning sickness, so many pregnant women go deal with weeks, even months of nausea/vomiting in their first months of pregnancy. But, what causes morning sickness, why does if affect some women when others sneak by relatively unaffected? Most importantly, how can YOU get through your morning sickness? Many times, an early sign of pregnancy is that queasy feeling you get one day out of the blue. You may not initially recognize this as morning sickness as you may be very early in your pregnancy. Morning sickness can occur at any period throughout the day, even though the name labels “morning”, many women feel poorly during all hours of the day or night while they suffer through morning sickness. Not every woman that is pregnant will go through morning sickness but most will, to some extent. The symptoms of morning sickness may range from only causing a mild bout of nausea to that of full on vomiting and being truly miserable. Usually by the end of your first trimester you should be finding some relief, but here are some tips and tricks to help you feel better in the meantime! A few tips to help deal with the rough days… Eat lots of smaller meals throughout the day. Make sure to eat meals that have a good amount of protein in them, this will help to keep your blood sugar levels more stable. Foods, liquids or herbal teas with ginger in them can help to relieve nausea. The most important thing to remember while feeling bad is to stay hydrated! Learn to recognize triggers and try to avoid those (smells/foods that make nausea worse) and increasing your intake of vitamin B can also help to alleviate those morning sickness symptoms. Unfortunately, part of growing your new bundle of joy can be dealing with morning sickness. While it isn’t pleasant, the nausea and vomiting (in most) cases won’t harm you or your baby and is entirely normal to pregnancy. Be sure to stay hydrated and take care of your self!
So you’ve been preparing to meet your new bundle of joy, family/friends are planning your baby showers and they’ve asked where you are registered… but where should you start? There are numerous stores and websites that allow moms to be to sign up allowing you to create lists of items needed and wanted for your nursery and baby. Friends and family can then come to those stores or shop online and purchase those items so that you’re getting the things you want or actually need and those items that will match your baby’s nursery theme. To create a registry, you can either go into a store or create one online and you can have registries in multiple stores. You’ll be asked to provide basic information (name, phone number, address) and then you’re off to choose from the numerous items within the store that you’re interested in registering for. If you are completing the registry within a store, you may be given a hand held scanner and have the option to walk around the store to scan the bar code of the items you want added to your registry. If completing online, you’ll have the option to select the items from the website. Each time you select an item to add to your list, each item will go onto your list, your “registry.” When family or friends come into the store or shop online where you are registered at and ask to pull up your registry list, they will be given the list of items you have selected and will have be able to see what has already been purchased from the list and what has not been purchased as of that date. As you are busy prepping for the new arrival of your baby, taking the time to create a baby registry will not only help you but will also help your friends and loved ones to know exactly what you are needing and looking for. Have you registered for baby gifts before, care to share your experiences?
